Firemouth meeki cichlids are usually purchased as smaller juveniles, but will grow to 6" at maturity. They are a semi-aggressive fish and mated pairs are especially territorial, so it is recommended to keep them alone, as a single mated pair, or in a larger aquarium with other similarly-sized semi-aggressive cichlids.
Firemouth meeki cichlids are sexually dimorphic; males tend to be brighter-colored than females and males have more pointed dorsal and anal fins.
